TYPE: FACIAL / BODY SCRUB.
HERBS: LILAC, BIRCH, LAVENDER, PEPPERMINT, HO WOOD.
USES: EXFOLIATION, AROMATHERAPY.
Since at home facial scrubs are relatively easy to make and I have an abundance of ingredients to experiment with, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing over the last few months, trying to find which combination of earth-based ingredients I like best.
This blend of floral scents and peppermint blend dance harmoniously together – they are feminine and refreshing without being too strong or sweet.
This mix of essential oils is one I’ve found not only works well in a facial scrub, but I use a similar blend in my diffuser for in a pinch relief from migraines – I add rosemary, but otherwise it’s the same.
In addition to smelling lovely, they’re antimicrobial and antibacterial, helping to prevent blemishes.
I’ve found a good quality peppermint oil will leave your face tingling for a few minutes afterward as well, which I find very refreshing.
Over the last month, this is an exfoliating blend I’ve been using that I’ve really grown fond of.
Even though I’ve experimented with different oils, I’ve found grapeseed is definitely the one my skin responds best to, so I’ve stuck with it for this recipe.
I also used different variations in grain size for salt and sugar – generally the finer the better, in my experience – so that’s what I used here.
All in all this is a facial scrub I plan on using for a while – maybe with a few tweaks here and there.
